Functioning Of The 40 W Ceiling Fan
40 W ceiling fan functions just like any other ceiling fan. The electrical motor forms the crux of the fan. It converts electrical energy into mechanical energy. The motor is torqued up by the capacitor of the ceiling fan. This causes the fan to start running. When the electrical current enters the motor, it passes onto the coils of wire that are wrapped around a metal base. The current passing through these coils creates a magnetic field around it. This magnetic field exerts force in a clockwise motion. This is how the electric energy is converted into mechanical energy. Consequently, the blades attached to the motor also start gaining momentum as the motor spins.
Every fan has some method for controlling the speed, and a 40 W ceiling fan is no exception. There are two ways in which you can control the speed of your fan – solid state setups and capacitor regulators.
In a solid-state setup, you can alter the controls of the setup to change the power of the motor. So, you can switch between low, medium and high levels of speed. Contrary to this, capacitor regulators allow you to adjust the voltage across the motor of the fan. If you increase the resistance, the voltage across the capacitor decreases and that across the fan motor increases. Thus, the fan speed increases and vice versa.

A ceiling fan essentially circulates the air around the room. As the warm, lighter air rises, the cool, heavier air sinks down. This is how air naturally startifies. When the hot air rises, the blades of the fan slice this air. As the air cools, it naturally sinks down. This is how air is circulated in the room continuously.
While it is true that fans make us feel cool, they do not cool the air. They merely escalate the evaporation of the sweat on human skin, making us feel cool.
