Pedestal Fans

What Is a Pedestal Fan?
A pedestal fan is a kind of portable, electric fan that can be adjusted for height, and has a detachable stand. The blades of these fans force the air to move parallel to the shaft around which they rotate and hence, these are axial fans. A pedestal fan consists of the following components:

  • Blades
  • Armature and lead wires
  • Blade guard
  • Motor housing
  • Oscillator shaft
  • Oscillator gearbox

Versatility Of Pedestal Fans

Pedestal fans are widely used because they are easy to operate and are portable. They are available in many styles and colours and are quite versatile in their functioning. It is a known fact that air gets stratified naturally, that is, the cool air (which is heavy) sinks down to the bottom, and the warm air (which is light) rises. Pedestal fans attract the cool air accumulated at the bottom of the room and circulate it horizontally throughout the room. In this way, you keep getting a cool breeze of air all the while the fan is running.

Most contemporary pedestal fan models come with a rotational axis of 180 degrees, and they can oscillate in a to and fro motion, ensuring a wider coverage area. Also, they have a tiltable frame which can help you maximize the effect of the AC and the thermostat, during summers and winters respectively.

During summers, if you tilt the frame up, the pedestal fan will help in mixing and spreading the air evenly throughout the room, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of your AC. Thus, even when you keep your AC temperature at a higher degree, you will experience the same coolness as you would with an AC running alone at a low temperature.

Likewise, during winters, the pedestal fan can help bring down the warmer air from the ceiling to the floor level thereby enhancing the effectiveness of your thermostat that can be maintained at a lower temperature to keep you warm and cozy. In both the situations, you are also saving valuable energy!

Maintenance Of Pedestal Fans
Since pedestal fans work at floor level, they attract more dust, lint, and dirt. They need to be cleaned at regular intervals to ensure smooth air circulation. Most of these fans come with a detachable front frame. First, you need to unscrew the front frame and the blades, and then start the cleaning process.

  1. Use a duster broom to remove the dust and dirt from the fan casing
  2. Take a wet or damp cloth and clean the dirt off the blades of the fan. If need be, you can also wash the blades with good quality detergent and water.
  3. Leave the blades to dry.
  4. Assemble the blades and attach the front frame.

Advantages Of Pedestal Fans
Using pedestal fans has many benefits.

  • Being compact and portable, they can be placed in any corner of the room. Pedestal fans are ideal for small personal spaces. You can enjoy the cooling effect of pedestal fans even in your garden, balcony, and terrace with the aid of an extension board.
  • You don’t have to worry about the installation of these fans. They go where you go!
  • They are usually not very expensive, and hence, you can cool your home without spending a ton of money.
  • Many pedestal fans come with remote controls that allow you to control the speed of the fan and operate it conveniently.
  • They help maintain proper ventilation in your home by driving the stale air out and bringing in fresh air from outside.

Atomberg Pedestal Fans
Unlike ordinary pedestal fans that run on induction motors, Atomberg pedestal fans only use high-performance and energy efficient BLDC motors. These motors not only consume less power, but they also deliver excellent air circulation in rooms.
While most pedestal fans consume about 40-70 Watts, Atomberg fans have been crafted to cut down your power consumption by almost 65%. They have specially designed aerodynamic blades, so you never have to worry about noise. Also, our fans come with a smart remote loaded with advanced features.
